Featuring all organic and GMO-free ingredients, Daily harvest is perfect for the lazy girl who is into health. This service delivers fresh frozen foods to your door in a cup, and you can customize it the way you want. You can choose anything from harvest bowls, soups, parfaits, oatmeals, lattes, smoothies and sundaes. You can also decide how many "cups" you would like to receive and if you would like to get them weekly or monthly. Each "cup" is mostly one meal (or snack) filled with superfoods that are healthy yet tasty. They have a variety of everything including salty, sweet and savory options to choose from. This service is a great way to incorporate fast, easy, healthy meals/snacks into your routine on a day to day basis.
Of course, after finding this company, I lept at the chance to try it. All that's left to do is to put it to the test. Does it taste good? How are the proportions? Can I add this to my daily routine to make eating healthy less of a chore?
The service is a subscription (you can cancel it at any time), so to test it I chose the least amount of cups to start out. I picked the box that delivers you 6 cups once a week that costs about $48. Upon looking through the website, I figured out that you can "skip" deliveries. I am probably not going to eat my breakfast lunch and dinner through this company every week because of how expensive it would be but also because realistically I am not always going to want to eat almost the same thing every day. I am a self-proclaimed foodie, and I love to try new things and to cook. I figured it would be a good idea to have some healthy, fast foods to make on the days where I am in a rush or just downright lazy. I set my subscription to send me 6 cups twice or once a month depending what I am in the mood for.
The 6 cups I chose to try was the matcha + lemongrass latte, mint + cacao smoothie, strawberry + peach smoothie, quinoa + chipotle harvest bowl, cauliflower rice + pesto harvest bowl, and the salted caramel sundae. After ordering, I received my box of goodies a week later. To break it down further I rated each cup out of 10.
Matcha + Lemongrass Latte:
Will re-purchase. Its very light in sugar and lemongrass was a nice undernote to the matcha.
Mint + Cacao Smoothie:
Truly obsessed. This smoothie tastes like a chocolate/mint milkshake even though it has spinach in it. Will re-purchase.
Strawberry + Peach Smoothie:
Refreshing. Not obsessed enough to re-purchase.
Quinoa + Chipotle Harvest Bowl:
It was okay. Nothing wrong with it. It just wasn't my cup of tea.
Cauliflower Rice + Pesto Harvest Bowl:
This was amazing. Packed with flavor and one serving is enough for a whole meal. Possibly would re-purchase but not after trying the other harvest bowls.
Salted Caramel Sundae:
I read the reviews and everyone raved about this item, but unfortunately, to me, it tasted like frozen mashed sweet potatoes. Will not repurchase.
To conclude, I would say that I LOVED what I tried and will continue my subscription. The only thing that somewhat bothers me is that I do believe that the subscription is a bit overpriced and even though I do recommend to try this I know that most people won't purchase it because of how expensive it is. I also hope in the future the company will add an option of a one time purchase for those who are skeptical about trying it. I will for sure try more of the bowls and smoothies upon my next delivery. Overall this subscription has been perfect for me considering I work all the time and am in often need of a quick pick me up. With my busy schedule it's hard to find the time and the energy to prepare meals and eat clean all the time, so I am beyond ecstatic I came across this company. I look forward to trying new things from Daily Harvest and leading a healthier lifestyle.
